    Project Overview

Gavroche Macarons was founded in 2020 by French patissier Anh-Nam Le Thanh. The former talent manager, born in Paris and lives in Hamburg, has turned to cook. As a passionate cook, he wanted to bring French excellence to the bustling gastronomic scene of the beautiful Hanseatic city.

    Our Role

We decided to integrate an Onlineshop for individual orders of Macarons, for pick up only. The goal is to give Gavroche's established and potential customers a way to order customizable amounts and variants of Macarons. They need a place to clearly place their request regardless of Gavroche's current availability and with little space for misunderstandings.

    Design Process

We used D.B.studio's Design Thinking model proposed by the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford (the 'd.school'). The stages of this Design Thinking process are as follows:

    • 01Empathize
    • 02Define
    • 03Ideate
    • 04Prototype
    • 05Test

    SWOT Analysis

We firmly wanted to know a little bit more about Gavroche as a business by the use of a SWOT analysis. To see what are some strengths and possible opportunities.

    Strengths

    • 100% handmade products
    • Fresh, natural ingredients
    • Traditional French methods
    • Made locally in Hamburg

    Weaknesses

    • Limited production capacity
    • No existing online presence
    • Availability constraints

    Opportunities

    • Online ordering system
    • Customization options
    • Gift sets for special occasions

    Threats

    • Competition from established brands
    • Seasonal demand fluctuations
    • Premium pricing sensitivity
    05

    Competitor Analysis

From the SWOT analysis, we continued with finding out who the competitors are and if we can see what differentiates them from Gavroche. We chose three competitors: das Süsse, IQ, Zucker Monstache.

    Site Map

First, we set up the original sitemap of the website and then created a new sitemap to see where we could make improvements. We didn't change much. The only thing we needed to do was create an 'onlineshop' on the Homepage.

    08

    Lo-Fi Wireframes

Packed with all this information we both made a low-fi of the homepage and category page. Because we had a very clear vision on what we wanted, our ideas came out very similar. The only difference was how we wanted to design the categories and to add an extra category.

    09

    Hi-Fi Wireframes & Prototype

We have combined all the elements shown throughout the design process to create what we feel is a warm, functional, fun, and approachable Website.
